Pittsburgh ESPLANADE

Experience

The wheel, the water, and the riverfront, open to everyone.

Recreation and the Marina

The river is the amenity

The riverfront is the point. Esplanade opens 1,600 feet of the Ohio River to everyone, with a working marina, a wheel above the water, and public space designed for all four seasons.

The Marina

The Marina

Permanent and transient slips welcome boaters to the North Side, with a public pier, a river safety facility serving local, state, and national agencies, and houseboats planned for sale, lease, or a night's stay on the river.

The Ferris Wheel

The Ferris Wheel

The Wheelhouse at Ferris Place carries a 200-foot observation wheel with enclosed, climate-controlled cabins that run year round, honoring George Ferris, the North Sider who invented it.

The Current

The Current

A multi-level culinary and entertainment destination featuring a curated mix of dining and event space with sweeping views of the Ohio River and amphitheater. Large operable walls blur the line between indoors and out, connecting guests to the energy of the public realm.

Trail, green, and ice

Trail, green, and ice

The rebuilt Heritage Trail runs the length of the site past the amphitheater and the public green, and the splash plaza becomes an ice ribbon in winter.
